Aldershot sent on Glen Burvill in place of right half Brian Talbot in the thirty-fourth minutes and Mark Rees, who had come on as a substitute at outside left, in place of Ian Stewart, scored the Aldershot goal in the seventy-fourth minute. For Leeds, Mel Sterland replaced Centre Half Chris Fairclough, after thirty minutes, Steve Hodges came on for Gary Speed at outside left in the fifty-fifth minute, Mike Whitlow replaced Chris Whyte at Left Half, leaving Mervyn Day and Imre Varadi as the unused substitutes.
